grace, grace, God’s grace…

February 19, 2010

This past week I was reminded of this beautiful gift that God provides for all of His children who ask.

Grace- a gift from God that was hard for me to accept. I may have resisted accepting God’s grace because those that would call themselves my brothers and sisters in Christ have such a hard time forgiving each other.

Forgiveness- a gift from us that must be offered (even when it’s not requested) for lives to move forward. I think forgiveness was difficult for me to offer because of my pride and inability to look past my “needs” and feelings.

But what do I really need other than God’s grace? And I believe true grace can only be found when we ask for it and we choose to truly forgive those who hurt us.

Grace Greater than Our Sin  Daniel Towner (1910- composition) & Julia Johnston (1911- lyrics)

Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt! Yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured, there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold, threaten the soul with infinite loss; grace that is greater, yes, grace untold, points to the refuge, the mighty cross.

Grace, grace, God’s grace,         grace that will pardon and cleanse within;                                                  grace, grace, God’s grace,          grace that is greater than all our sin!

Dark is the stain that we cannot hide. What can avail to wash it away? Look! There is flowing a crimson tide, brighter than snow you may be today.

Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace, freely bestowed on all who believe! You that are longing to see his face, will you this moment his grace receive?

I answered this question in the affirmative and found Christ to follow. I’ve also relentlessly prayed for years for a soul that I once knew. This soul had the seed of TRUTH but darkness took over. I feared for the soul…but God never waivered and intervened when the seed was ready to begin taking root. God’s grace was asked for and is now holding this soul closely and moving lives forward. God answers prayers, friends. God’s grace and love is REAL and because of this reminder and those who pray for me I will never abandon this journey. My soul found restoration…and will always continue forward.
