choosing trust

March 5, 2010

Norman Vincent Peale:
One of the greatest moments in anybody’s developing experience is when he no longer tries to hide from himself but determines to get acquainted with himself as he really is.

Part of this retreat is to trust it…to trust that change can and will come.

I won’t lie.

Trust is not easy.

It hasn’t been easy for this soul for 29 years…and life in this world doesn’t make it easier. But I’ve been learning that trust means to give up what you believe to be a right…a right to be loved unconditionally…a right to be cared for always…a right to be heard sincerely. These are not rights…these are gifts. Gifts that we cannot demand or expect…but can we hope for them?

Can we trust that these gifts are true?

Trust requires breaking the shells we’ve acquired throughout the years of hurt and lies…both told and heard.

Trust thrusts us out of ourselves.

Trust shatters barriers that have risen in many of our histories.

roots freedom.

Trust…real trust bears restoration.
