tattoos, coffee, and conversation

January 13, 2012

“Wow! I love your tattoo!” was how this friendship began.

A conversation about what trees mean to us over coffee was our first time sharing our stories with each other. Our lives are very busy, but we have tried to get together at least 1-2 times each semester for coffee and conversation. It is amazing how fast an hour can go by when two souls connect and rejoice together through our narratives.

Today we got together for our “beginning of the semester” gathering and to reflect together about life. She experienced a significant loss in her family over Christmas break and decided to get a tattoo as part of her grieving process…that celebrates the life that was lived and now freed to live with our Father in heaven. Our conversation today was something I looked forward to all week and the time we shared together was a beautiful part of this day.

This woman is an amazing source of thought provoking reflection and restoration and I am so glad that we met each other because of our tree tattoos… but have grown together in a way I never had anticipated.

Today, I am thankful for our tattoos, coffee, and conversations.
