living hope

June 2, 2012

Today one of my cousins celebrated his high school graduation. As I walked into the building I was surrounded by family. I just stood there with my children…where were we going to sit…then people came up and welcomed us with hugs.

There was lots of conversation, eating, joking, playing games outdoors, laughter at and with each other, hugging, and for me…lots of listening and watching.

I love visiting with my extended family. I see glimpses of my grandma and grandpa in so many faces and expressions and hear their voices in several stories and laughter. I visit and I know that my grandparents’ hope of family valuing each other and cousins counting on each other continues to be lived.

Today I am thankful for being part of this living hope.
